21-year old Vidhisha Baliyan from Uttar Pradesh has made India proud by winning the Miss Deaf World pageant. She becomes the first Indian to achieve this.
Vidhisha, who hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, was among the 11 finalists from 16 participants at the pageant. Currently, her family lives in Ghaziabad and she was trained for the competition in Gurugram and Noida.
The other international records she holds to her name also include a silver medal in Lawn Tennis at the International Deaf Olympics (Deaflympics). Subsequent to recovering from her back injury, she participated in this beauty pageant. She had won the India level title in February, before proceeding to the international stage. She was being trained since April this year, by Deepa Malik, India’s first female Paralympic winner.
