This Diwali turned out to be the last one for the family of Amritlal Modi of Baroda, after the car in which they were driving back home, hit a road divider and over turned, killing all but one passengers.

The freak accident, which occurred when the family car hit a divider and over turned, resulted in Amritlal Modi (69), his wife Suman Modi (63), son Alkesh (37), daugther-in-law Peenal (32) and grandson Vedansh (4) getting killed on the spot.  The grand daughter, 8 year old Tanvi who remains the only living member of the family, is seriously injured and is under critical care.

Returning after celebrating Diwali in Jaipur, the Baroda based family, were driving along in their personal car and late in the evening, when they were on the Gomti – Rajsamand highway, the car hit a divider and overturned.  The speed caused the car to be crushed killing all but one.  Seemingly it was  case of loss of concentration of the driver – probably due to sleep.
