A massive fire destroyed 6 junk shops in Hiranmagri early morning today.

6 junk shops caught fire today early morning in Bappa Raval colony in Hiranmagri sector 6. Scrap, plastic, other junk material worth more than 5 lakhs got completely destroyed in the massive fire. More than 10 fire brigade vehicles doused the fire after putting in 4 hours of effort. The fire reportedly started at 4:30 a.m.in the shops allotted by UIT.

The fire started at Murli Bhai’s shop. It was so massive that it engulfed the other 5 shops of Murli’s relatives. All the shops were one after another swallowed in by this fire. Scrap and junk in the shop added to the fire spreading quickly. All neighbours came out of their houses and called up fire brigade. Each person present tried his best to put off the fire by getting water from here and there in the neighbourhood.

Fire brigade reached the spot within 15 to 20 minutes of call. Seeing the massively spreading fire, 7 fire brigade vehicles were called. By 7:30 a.m. 13 vehicles had engaged in fire dousing process and it was around 9:30 a.m. when finally the entire fire was put off. The brigade took help of JCB to remove the burnt stuff. There were flames under the plastic scrap and equipment scrap. The fire resulted in a loss of about of more than 5 lakh rupees.

Before the fire brigade reached, people in the area tried to open the shop shutters. But the shutters had become too hot because of fire and could not be lifted up.
