As a step towards controlling collisions of boast in the lake, experimental measures have been taken by the boat organisers. Borders lines are being set in Fatehsagar lake to fix the periphery for each boat. Which boat will go upto what limit in the lake will be finalised today so as to avoid accidents in the lake. The accident of 29^th May where 4 year old girl Chahak lost her life in still fresh in the minds of people.

As an experimental measure, life tubes were tied to ropes and a border line was set on lake surface. UIT, Municipal Corporation and Transport department will observe the border lines today on spot and finalise limits for each boat respectively. Different boundaries will be set for boats run by Municipal Corporation and RTDC. Boats to and fro Nehru Garden will also be given a fixed route. As of now, boat rides to Nehru Garden are under a stay as per court orders. Distance limit for each boat has to be set very carefully to avoid accidents in future.

The accident of 29^th May is still fresh in people’s memory. It was such a fatal accident of boats that a little girl lost her life and became a part of history that can never be forgotten. Chahak, 4 year old from Jaipur, has left a deep impact on Udaipur city. When we are at the lakeside watching boat rides, Chahak episode flashes right in front of our eyes bringing back memories of the pain of a mother who had dreams of giving a good life to her daughter, a father who would have started saving for her higher education and other family members who cannot bear to see the child’s parents in pain. No words can take away that pain.

Once the limits for boat rides are taken and proper security measures are adopted, only then can the city heave a sigh of relief. Life tubes, life jackets and divers are also required to be in every boat and at the lake side all the time.
