The information is provided today in a media workshop held at the hospital blood bank by Dr Sanjay Prakash, associate professor and HoD (Transfusion Medicine). He said that lately awareness is increased among blood donors as in 1975 only 10% of blood could be arranged through donors but now it has increased to 55%.

Dr Sanjay Prakash said that the problem could be solved if the relatives of the patients or volunteers blood donors give the blood directly to hospital blood bank. Other than Thalassemia patients, the blood is also required for patients in emergency, nuerosurgery, trauma, cardiology, nephrology etc.

“We are trying to register 1 Lac blood donors with the various awareness programs being conducted and still going on in schools, colleges and other organizations of Udaipur region.” He appealed the media to spread the awareness among locals to come up and donate blood to save the lives of needy.
