Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) continued cleaning of Ahar (Ayad) River along city stretch. The cleaning started today near UIT Bridge and will continue for another 15 days. UMC has already cleaned part of the river near Ahad Bridge, total stretch of river is across city is 9 kms starting from Swaroop Sagar.

Himmat Singh Barath, Commissioner, UMC informed that the cleaning has been implemented under Sewerage Treatment Plant project. On orders of district collector complete course of river will be made pollution free.

Barath added that in the cleaning project ahead, they will clean part of river near Panchwati, Aloo Factory and CPS School. The earthmovers deployed over the site removed unwanted plants and extra soil from within the river.

Sources added that parts of river outside city border would be cleaned by UIT along with construction of trunk line to carry liquid waste to treatment plant. The total length of river is around 27 kms till Udaisagar Lake at Debari.
