In a meeting of health committees of Municipal Corporation on Friday, it was decided to take extremely strict action against people who throw garbage on road. Following the cleanliness survey in town, the roadside garbage containers have been removed as the garbage collecting auto tippers are now doing rounds of the city both in morning and evening. But it has been observed that despite all efforts, people are still throwing garbage on the road.

It has now been decided that any hotel or restaurant throwing garbage on the road will have to pay for their action. Their licenses will be cancelled for polluting the city. The administration has also demanded public contribution in this respect. People will now give reports against colony residents who are responsible for spreading garbage on the road.

It has been observed that despite the garbage collecting vehicles doing rounds, the hotels and restaurants are still throwing garbage on the road. Many food stall owners at Sukhadia Circle and other shop owners are not bothered about the effects of open garbage disposal and are throwing left-over food and other garbage on the road. Directives have been issued to keep a watch and cancel the licenses of the shops disposing garbage on the road.

Municipal Corporation is also set to take action against encroachments by street vendors. All the illegal vendors will be removed. It has also been brought to notice that there are gangs who are active in renting out thelas to the street vendors who then encroach upon a big area on the roads and disrupt traffic as well. Action will be taken against these thela contractors.

Public also needs to play an active role in keeping the city clean. Unless a feedback is given by the public against the people responsible for dirtying the city, administration will not be able to get hold of the ‘sinners’. There are people who usually sneak out during night time and throw garbage at the road sides or at the lone side of the road. These people must be caught red-handed and penalized.
