Udaipur traffic will now be under watchful eyes of Google maps. Police control room now has LED screens where a police jawan will keep an eye on city’s traffic round the clock.

Police will keep a watch on Udaipur city’s traffic with the help of Google maps. An LED screen was installed in Police control room on Thursday. Traffic Inspector Netrapal Singh said that an operator will keep a check on traffic conditions in the city’s various points through Google maps. In case of traffic jams, a red light will indicate the situation on the map. Orange light will indicate traffic at a slow pace whereas a green light will indicate a normal traffic condition. Police have a survey sheet of areas which usually face traffic jams. Durga Nursery road in the afternoon, Pratapnagar crossing in the evening and Delhi Gate area face traffic pressures from morning to afternoon. Hence these areas will be watched constantly on Google map so that the traffic situations are kept in control all the time.

It has been given to understand that the moment an area is searched on Google map, a clear picture of traffic can be assessed. Traffic police are present on various crossroads of the city. It has been seen that a traffic jam occurs much ahead of a crossroad and by the time a traffic police gets to know the scene, the jam gets converted to a huge mess. Situations take time to control in such cases. LED screens will be the eye of traffic which will be observed by a police official all the time. The police officer keeping a watch will keep informing the traffic police from time to time in situations of jams and road blocks. Traffic police will be diverting traffic to avoid long time jams on the roads. Google maps will prove to be very beneficial in the coming times for smooth traffic operations in the city.
