The government will regulate double piping system in homes under which the customer will be provided with two different connections- one for the drinking water and another for recycling water.

Presently, drinking water was being used for other purposes as well but with the provision of the new ‘Water Policy Act’ within the next 6 months there will be different connection for drinking water and another connection for all other household purposes.

The new act will be applied in colonies of UIT, Housing Board and newly developed colonies. Later, the system will be installed in old colonies as well.

This initiative is to monitor the increased dark zone areas in the state. For the first time, the government will hold standards to test the quality of water including pure water, raw water and waste water standards.

According to PHED Minister Kiran Maheshwari, the draft has been prepared and will be uploaded on the website in a week. Suggestions will be welcomed from people regarding the dual pipe system. The proposal is expected completion within the next 6 months.
