Amid the recent row in Mumbai over ban of meat being sold during a Jain festival, the state government has imposed restrictions on sale of meat here.

Amid the recent row in Mumbai over ban of meat being sold during a Jain festival, the state government has imposed restrictions on sale of meat here.

As per the reports, the state government issued an order on Wednesday banning the sale of meat during Paryushan, a festival of Jains.

As per the directive issued by the directorate of local bodies, the ban will be in place on 17th and 18th September; the day on which the slaughterhouses and meat & fish shops are ordered to remain close. The ban will also remain in force on September 27th for the festival of Anant Chaturdashi, which is celebrated by Digamber Jains.
