Seized liquor kept in police station was emptied in drain as a result of which the stench became unbearable.

Around 300 bottles of beer were drained down. This beer was lying in police station for the last 20 years. Seized from a truck at Bedla road 20 years back, court gave orders to dispose these 25 cartons of beer. Ambamata police reached excise office with these 25 cartons after orders issued by court. After completing all documentation for these cartons, excise officer Govind Singh issued instructions to throw away the beer.

Police along with excise office employees emptied the contents of 300 bottles into a can. The can was then emptied into drains. Since the bottles were lying sealed for the last 20 years, the content started stinking. The stench of rotten beer in the excise office became unbearable for everyone.

Excise patrolling teams raided a number of wine shops in the city on Wednesday night. The excise department took action against shops with inadequate records. Excise officer Govind Singh Deora said that details of these raids will be made available later on. The raid went on until late night on Wednesday.
