Interior of Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) got a much needed facelift with the commissioning of lavish mirror work at entrance of the building. The mirror work depicts a dancing peacock. The work is very impressive and is catching the attention of almost every one passerby.

According to sources, the mirror work is spread over an area of around 30 feet and has been commissioned by incurring an expense of Rs.15 lac. The primary objective was to give a heritage look to the wall. This work has been done as part of the renovation of the UMC building that started in 2013.

Gaurav Sanadya, contractor for the mirror work, informed that around 40 Kg of small glass pieces went into making of the piece.

He further informed that this form of art has been used historically for decoration across Mewar but is not on verge of extinction as it is very costly and also demands a lot of maintenance expenditure.
