Udaipur looks forward to a new and modern building to house the Krishi Mandi as well as a modern Agro Tower.

As per information provided by Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini, Rs 114 Crore have been allotted to develop a new premises to house Udaipur’s modern Krishi Mandi. This complex will make available all the necessary items for agriculture – both for traders as well as end consumers.

As Rs 14 Crore Agro Tower is also planned along with this development. This Agro Tower will house 125 offices, which will provide agri businessmen with modern office infrastructure. The businesses housed in this tower will be able to conduct nationwide as well as global business transactions from these premises.

The Minister added that Udaipur Krishi Mandi will be the pilot project of the State government, which will be the first such project in India. Primary purpose of this agro business house is to develop and promote trading in agri products across the nation as well as globally, he said.  Work Orders for constructing the complexes have already been issued.

Prabhulal Saini added that at this point in time, over 26 types of products are produced by the jungles. The lack of proper marketing channels and infrastructure is keeping the tribals devoid of any advantage.

In the previous year, the state government set up the Forest Product Mandi (Van Upaj Mandi), which has recorded a turnover of Rs 203 Crore. Over 5 and a halh lakh quintal produce has been traded from here. Under these circumstances and with the development of this prilot project, the producers, traders as well as consumers are set to benefit exponentially.
