Not So Smart: Udaipur ranks 54th in Ease of Living Index

Smart City Udaipur ranked a dismal 54th in a Government ranking on ‘Ease of Living Index’. This was the first time Government had carried out this survey to rank cities on livability index.
Pune topped the list while Rampur in Uttar Pradesh was ranked at the bottom of the list. A total of 111 cities were ranked in this survey.
The survey was carried out in major Indian cities on the basis of four parameters of ease of living – governance, social, economic and physical infrastructure.
Evaluation was done on a 100 point scale across 78 indicators with institutional and social pillars carrying 25 points each and 5 points were given for economic pillar and 45 points for the physical pillar.
Udaipur had a total score of 35.06 out of 100. Udaipur scored 6.93/25 in Government pillar, 11.64/25 in social pillar, 3/5 in economic pillar and 13.49/45 in physical pillar.
Jaipur was ranked as the most livable city in Rajasthan and was ranked 30th in the country.
