City faced a second day of successful nationwide Bandh organized by United Forum of the Bank Union on Thursday. All the branches of state and private banks remained closed.

Economics of general public as well as business establishments was adversely hit as everyone kept waiting for their drafts and cheques to be cleared in these two days whereas Clearing House also remained close, stalling drafts and cheques worth Rs. 200 crore.

Bank employees and officers came together outside HDFC bank, Durga Nursery road for demonstration and shouted slogans against the policies of Central Government and Indian Bank Union.

Meeting was organized after the demonstration where convener of United Forum of the Bank Union, D. K. Jain, warned Central Government and Indian Bank Union of indefinite strike, if they do not take appropriate action on their demands.

He also said, “I am thankful for the support we received from the bank employees, officers and private banks. I am also thankful to reporters, police and other organizations”. He asked bank employees to be ready for the next agitation.
