Speed limit to be 20 km/hr on inner city roads

191 cities of Rajasthan will be required to follow the rule of speed limit for inner city roads failing which fines will be levied.

Speed limit of 20km/hr has been decided for inner city roads and colonies. 50 km/hr is the speed limit for main roads. Automomous administrative department has issued directives for all the cities under master plan. National highways near cities will have a speed limit of 80km/hr.

As per the new directives, 1.8 metre wide footpaths are compulsory in residential colonies. These footpaths will be made in front of houses and shops in the residential colonies. Commercial market will also be required to follow guidelines for footpath at 2.5 metres wide. Shopping centres and commercial hubs will need to have footpaths of 3.5 metre to 4.5 metre width. Similarly bus stand will need a 3 metre wide footpath and business centres will have 4 metre wide footpath.

There will also be cycle tracks from the inner colonies to main roads.  Even the smaller colonies need to have cycle tracks compulsorily. A cycle track ranging between 1.9 metre wide to 2.2 metre wide on 60 feet and more roads, 1.9 metre wide cycle track for 40 to 60 feet road, 1.5 metre wide cycle track on 30 feet roads will be made.

All the above mentioned changes will be soon put into action and will have to be followed strictly.
