The Udaipur Municipal Corporation has to provide license to all street food vendors, as per orders issued by Supreme Court under Street Food Policy.

The cutoff date for UMC to allot the license is before 4th February, but nothing concrete has been planned yet. Although Corporation had received orders in month of August 2013.

According to Himmat Singh Barath, Commissioner, “UMC process was delayed due to State Assembly Election, but have started with required process in which a Committee would be organized shortly. Thereafter a survey will be organized to list out such street vendors and their respective localities.”

Himmat Singh further informed that on the basis of survey, committee will be allotting appropriate places to carry out their business. If the process requires having any infrastructural needs then UMC will fulfill that accordingly.

Himmat Singh also added, “Since we are delayed in proceedings of allotting license, a request will be sent to Supreme Court for a grace period or extend cutoff date for the same.”
