Proposal for moving the central jail at Udaipur and Jaipur out of the city area have been made to the Chief Minister. Post approval from the Chief Minister, budget allocation and tendering process for construction of the new jail will begin.

It may be noted that a few days back Chief Minister had asked work on shifting of jails to be taken up on priority. Given that both Udaipur and Jaipur central jails are located at prime locations, State Government stands to earn crores by conducting a land auction of these places.

Land along Banswara road has been earmarked for Udaipur Jail. The jail is intended to be made a hi-tech jail.

It has been planned to move out the small central jails that are currently in city area outside the city. Jaipur and Udaipur Central jail have been planned to be moved in first phase.
