Towards the end of current fiscal year, while expecting a surplus of Rs. 5 crore, Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) has to spend nearly Rs. 1.82 crore per day to utilize the allocated budget of current session of 2012-13. The results of current year demonstrate least development in the span of three consecutive sessions.

On 19th Feb 2013 BJP board of UMC will present budget of around Rs. 195 crore for the financial year of 2013-14. The board had announced a budget requirement of Rs. 645 crore for the past three sessions ending on 31st March 2013; the budget sanction included Rs. 50 crore dedicated to be spent on development and beautification of Ayad River, however failed to spend any amount.

According to Dinesh Shrimali, Opposition Leader, UMC is being granted a huge sum of money for salaries of the officials and other workers, despite the Council has spent a very least amount of around Rs. 200 crore on new construction and other development activities.
