UMC to spend Rs. 33 Lac on Installing Public Figure Idols

Upon release of tender notice for installation of idols of public icons at various locations around Udaipur, an estimate of Rs. 33 lac is expected to be spent for the proposed work; earlier the plan was for establishment of 3 statues, but now the installation will take place at 4 places.

According to the plan, statues of Meera Bai and Deen Dayal Upadhyay were proposed to be installed in Meera Girls College and Deen Dayal Park at Dhudh Talai respectively, whereas idol of Swami Vivekananda was under consideration between two places viz. Fatehsagar and MLSU campus, but now Vivekananda statue will be placed on both the locations.

Shashi Bala Singh, JEN UMC, said that 6 feet tall idol of Meera Bai in sitting position with Veena in hand valuing Rs. 7 lac will be erected in Meera Girls College, a 10 feet & another 12 feet tall statue of Swami Vivekananda in a sitting and Standing gesture valuing Rs. 10 lac and Rs. 11 lac respectively will be instituted at Fateh Sagar and MLSU Campus; whereas in Deen Dayal Park a 10 feet idol of Deen Dayal Upadhyay valuing Rs. 5 lac will be established.

Sources informed that tender has already been received from contractors and after due negotiations work order will be issued, later a separate tender will be announced for the maintenance of these statues, including pre-installed ones.

“There was already a demand for bigger idol from MLSU students, considering the same we decided to install Swami Vivekananda idol on both the places”, said Rajni Dangi, Chairperson, UMC.
