UMC will buy New Buses to start City Bus ServiceAfter staying dormant for 3 long years over the issue of City Bus Service, Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) is again active and has decided to buy new buses as per the requirements, to re-start the facility in town. No timeline has yet been decided over the proposal.

Today, in a short discussion with Udaipur Times, UMC Chairperson Ranji Dangi informed that the council is planning to buy new buses in order to re-start the bus service in the City. She added a disclaimer that it may take a long time to start the service, as even after multiple tender notices, no contractor has shown interest over the proposal.

She mentioned that Council is bound to follow certain procedures to work on any project. Tender is one such process and is incomplete for some reasons; so, until and unless this procedure is complete, department cannot step ahead with their plan.

Sources say that earlier the service was partially under control of District Collector in joint efforts with Municipal Council, but now, all the processes regarding bus service, including fare and parking of buses and even appointing of required staff, would be administrated by UMC.
