Update on rave party case in Udai Palace Hotel, Udaipur

Two years back, some arrests were made in a rave party held in Hotel Udai Palace on Ahmedabad highway.  Lawyer of the arrested party made an appeal to the court for getting call details and locations of the investigating officer and four others in this case. He furnished their mobile numbers and company details and requested for details to be given at the earliest.

Presiding officer of Special additional chief judicial magistrate (PCPNDT-Act) cases Samrendra Singh Sikarwar, in the hearing, said that SP has already been issued orders. He also added that the investigating period is not a lengthy one, so once the report is submitted by the concerned SP only then will the issue of call details and locations be given a thought.

The lawyer has asked for details of the then circle officer Ranu Sharma’s BSNL number, Airtel details of CI Abdul Rehman and Basant Ram, Idea details of Mangteram in Sardul Singh v/s Ranu Sharma case. The companies and regional offices have also been issued letters to provide details of these people for the date of incident i.e. 5th April 2015. It may be noted that earlier due to delay in investigations on part of department, the court had written to SP asking for clarifications to be given in 15 days before the court, else action was to be taken in absence of any such report.

Sardul Singh s/o Daulat Singh resident of New Colony in Dungarpur had submitted a libel against certain police officers. As per his statement, “I was having dinner in Udai Palace hotel with my driver on 5th April 2015. These police officers entered the hotel and started asking for names of people in restaurant and those in rooms as well. When DSP was asked the reason behind this enquiry, he told everyone to stay quiet. Then all were taken to the police station where they were kept all night. Next morning, a case was registered against all the customers, hotel staff and hotel owner under PITA act and we were put behind bars. I did not commit any such crime. Even the hotel is not guilty of such  illegal activity.”

Sardul Singh took a copy of FIR after his bail. He has requested the SP to conduct an impartial investigation in this matter. He also said that as per FIR, DSP and CI had sent 2 under cover constables as customers in the hotel, whereas this did not happen. No one saw these constables in the hotel. The hotel owner had some dispute going on with some police officers. As a result, the rave party scam was falsely stated as part of campaign against the hotel owner.
