In a drive to abolish child marriage, district collector Ashutosh A.T Pednekar took another step in which the invitation letter or the Kanku Patri printed by the family members of the bride and the groom to have the birth date printed of both the people.

According to the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2006, the required age of a girl is 18 and that of a boy is 21. If this rule is violated then the parents of bride & groom, wedding arrangers and other related people will be considered guilty.

Under this new rule, the printing press is also obligated to print the birth dates of both the bride and the groom on the wedding card to ascertain the right age of both.
