The meeting was held under the chair of the District Collector, Chetan Deora who defined parameters to be adhered to in defining Containment zones in the district.

Containment Parameters defined
As per the parameters, any gali or mohalla across Udaipur district where there are 15 or more COVID positive cases across 48 hours AND 5 or more families are affected, will be declared a Containment Zone and lockdown restrictions will be imposed.

Sampling guidelines

It was also decided that the health care team will go to each house where a COVID positive patient is found, and will collect samples of all close contacts as well as ensure that home isolation guidelines are followed.

As winters set in from the month of November, the expected rise in COVID cases also took place. Though the first couple of weeks before Diwali were expectedly lower, the jump in positive cases was exponential as the festive season began taking its toll. There has been news of impending lockdown and identification of containment zone, however, the administration is again taking a moderate approach so as not to affect the livelihood of people. The Collector has also assured the residents of Udaipur, that if social distancing is maintained is maintained, there will not be any need to impose a lockdown or define any containment zone in the district.

Additionally, the District Collector announced that the rate of sampling will touch 1500 per day with immediate effect. 100 samples per day will be collected from areas that have a significant number of COVID positive cases and 50 samples per day will be collected from other areas.
