School girls join the protest to cancel transfer of teacher
Students from the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Nai Village near Udaipur locked the main gate of the school and staged a walkout. The girls later did a protest march that ended with a demonstration outside the Udaipur Collectorate today morning.
Their demand was to cancel the transfer of their teacher Pappu Kalal. This demand was raised in addition to the fact that the school has not been allotted a Sanskrit language teacher for the last 18 months, and despite that a good teacher already serving in the school has been transferred.
The girls claimed that Pappu Kalal, a teacher who has spent seven years at this school, had been moved to another location, which has caused a great deal of distress among the girls and led them to demand that the transfer be revoked.
Local leaders and the girls’ parents also joined the protest and the resentment was visible in the demonstration. The demonstrators also said that till the time the administration authorities from the education department do not come and meet them and assure them that their demands will be met, the school will remain locked.
