Traffic Rules in Udaipur - Helmet for Two Wheeler driver and pillion compulsory; Seat Belts mandatory in Four Wheelers

The helmet norm will not be applicable drivers from the Sikh community who wear Turbans

 

District Road Transport Officer, Udaipur has made it mandatory for helmets for the driver and pillion rider. Further, seat belts have been made mandatory for the driver and front seat passenger of all four wheelers.

Provisions for this regulation are as per clause 8.28 of Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Act 1990.
The RTO Udaipur and traffic police have begun a campaign for regulating road traffic in accordance with the above regulations. Commuters flouting helmet norms, seat belt norms and speed limits will be penalized. The campaign, which will run from 15-24 July will be in accordance with these provisions. Flying Squads and Interceptor vans, consisting of personnel from traffic police as well as RTO will be effected all across the district and those flouting these norms will be penalized and educated about the regulations. Licenses will also be confiscated.

The helmet norm will not be applicable on Sikh two wheeler drivers.

District Road Transport Officer will conduct a regular survey of the Flying Squad and Interceptor vehicles and those not found conducting their tasks properly will be dealt with accordingly.

Daily reports of checking done will need to be submitted through e-mail the next morning.
