Proposal to Bring 34 Villages Within Nagar Nigam Limits

District Collector has sent proposal to the State Government; if approved then Nagar Nigam jurisdiction will expand from 8 kms to 17 kms; wards will exceed 100

Udaipur, December 24, 2024 - Udaipur District Collector Arvind Poswal has sent a proposal to the State Government to bring 34 villages, surrounding the city’s periphery, within the Udaipur Nagar Nigam limits. Separate letters have also been sent to the concerned gram panchayats regarding this. A proposal for the same had been sent to the State Government in 2012 but nothing concrete came out of it.

If this proposal is approved, then the Nagar Nigam jurisdiction will expand from 8 kms to 17 kms and the number of wards will exceed 100.

Currently, these 34 villages are under the Urban Development Authority (UDA) and panchayats and most of the sales and conversion work of these villages is handled by the UDA. Once they come under the Nigam, all documentations, etc., will fall under the its jurisdiction.

The proposed areas to be brought under the urban area jurisdiction include Bhuwana, Badgaon, Shobhagpura, Eklingpura, Kaladwas, Kanpur, Bedwas, Debari, Jharno Ki Sarai, Dhodi Magri, Rakampura, Rebarion Ka Guda, Raghunathpura, Roopnagar, Ayad Gramin, Devali, Bhuvana, Sukher, Sapetia, Bedla Khurd, and Bedla. As of now, according to the Nigam officials, only Ayad and Bhupalpura are under the corporation's jurisdiction, while all surrounding areas are under the panchayats.

The last time the Udaipur municipal limits were extended was in 1959, when areas such as Govardhan Vilas and Pratap Nagar were included. There has been no expansion in the city limits for the past 55 years.
