On the 60
th Founding day of Lok Kala Mandal, today on 22nd February; a three day cultural program and events have been organized by Lok Kala Mandal in association with The Performers. The program is dedicated to the 150
th Birth anniversary of the famous Indian poet, writer and painter Rabindranath Tagore, thus it is named “Rabindrotsav”.
Today, on the first day of the event, Chitra (Chitrangada, 1892) a famous play written by Rabindranath Tagore was depicted by various artists. The play was directed by Dr. Laiq Hussain.
More than 20 paintings made by artists from Rajasthan and Gujarat including Ramsingh Bhati of Udaipur and Kallu Patel of Gujarat are installed outside Lok Kala Mandal auditorium. Raghuveer Singh Meena, MP inaugurated the Rabindrotsav while the program was directed under the leadership of Shailendra Dashora. The play, Chitrangada enthralled the present audience; it showed the deep feelings of a brave woman named Chitrangada, who was not good looking but was deeply in love with Arjuna. Her dedication and devotion impressed Kama, who blesses her with substantial beauty, but only for a year. The story shows Chitra’s sacrifice of love for her village and its people. The role of Chitra was played by Shobha and Anushree, while Arjuna was Tulisram and Kama was Prem Kumar. The second day of the event i.e. 23rd February is named Rang Tagore in which Indian Classical Dance and a play will be acted and ‘Ekla Chalo Re’ play will be showcased on 24th February, the last day of the Rabindraotsav.
