Unemployment concerns at Railmagra addressed by Hindustan Zinc - lends a helping hand

HZL aims to provide employment opportunities through Zinc Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Institute

A unique approach to its corporate social responsibility - HZL provides an organised skill development center for youth who have lost jobs due to the COVID crisis in the region

Hindustan Zinc has joined hands with Ambuja Cement Foundation to provide employment opportunities and give new direction in life to the unemployed youth of Railmagra who have lost their jobs due to Corona pandemic.

Due to the lockdown, both economic and industrial activities had come to a standstill all over the country and this has led to job losses. Hindustan Zinc’s Skills & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) is providing employment opportunities to the youth and has trained around 102 unemployed young men and women through online training in the last two months.

The skill development center is doing a commendable job in making the unemployed youth self-reliant in this Corona epidemic and we hope that more and more unemployed youth of this region gets trained and get employed”. - Rajendra Dashora, Director of HZL's Rajpura Dariba Complex

The center is helping trainees/candidates interact with prospective employers and preparing them for the online interviews. These trainees/candidates are mostly the ones who were earlier employed but lost their jobs due to Conona crises. The center has provided re-employment opportunities to Security Guard, Assistant Electrician, Microfinance Executive, General Duty Assistant by getting them interviewed and re-employed. Currently, around 80 trainees are getting online training in all the four courses.

In the past too, around 500 unemployed youth of Railmagra and nearby villages were provided with employment opportunities.
