India’s first chain of branded backpackers’ hostels – ‘Zostel’ has started its branch in Udaipur as ‘Zostel Shaharkot’ at Nav Ghat, Near City Palace. Founded about a year ago by a bunch of ambitious and passionate IIT-IIM-MDI graduates, they aim to change the way India travels.

Zostel does have things that one might expect from their hostel – like clean A/C dorms and private rooms, pristine bathrooms, personal lockers, 24/7 reception and security, fast and free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, they also sneak in a few delightful perks – like the opportunity to meet like-minded travelers, games, a library, planning custom itineraries and most importantly, the experience of a lifetime.

The prime focus is to provide clean, hygienic, safe and affordable accommodation, with a blend of culture thrown in the mix. The affordable rates are a certain plus for travelers and backpackers.

‘Zostel Shaharkot’ opened in the month of July is the third Zostel to be established, after Jodhpur and Jaipur. The hostel is nestled in a prime location, with one wall facing the stunning City Palace and the other, beautiful Lake Pichola.

They have a rooftop restaurant with a view of the lake that is open to the general public. It’s also a place for travelers to just kick back and socialize, read books from lakeside library or just have a casual game night.

There are a lot of exciting things on the cards for Zostel, because by the end of this year, Zostel will be operating in twice the numbers of cities than they are right now. All of this is in complete agreement with the motto that Zostelers swear by, which is ‘Live. It. Now.’
