A 70 year old man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly raping a 13 year old minor girl studying in Class 8th of the government school at Dungarpur district.  He was produced in fornt of the court on Friday morning and was remanded under Judicial Custody, as per the Police department.

Aaspur Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ratan Lal Chawla informed that the police received a complaint from the mother of the victim on 19 June at Dovra police station. In her complaint, she claimed that one of their 70-year old neighbor had allegedly raped her elder daughter. In her report, she also mentioned that it was when the survivor girl had a stomach ache on 19th June, when her mother asked her about the pain than she revealed that the accused lured her for chocolate and took her to his house when she was alone at night in her house as her mother was out for some work.  There he overpowered and raped her. In her report, she also shared that the accused had also threatened the minor girl for her life if she ever sharedd this incident with anyone, Chawla added. Upon getting the report of the victim's mother the Police began their investigations.

The DSP said that based on the complaint, they arrested the accused on Thursday. He has been charged with rape, assault, and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and an investigation has been launched. The medical examination of the victim was conducted and a hunt for the accused was launched by the police and he was arrested by the team of Dovra police station on Thursday night from the nearby forests.
