A jewellery shop at Kankroli in Rajsamand district was looted in broad day light by three armed men, who were captured on camera while carrying out the crime on Wednesday morning.

The CCTV footage shows armed robbers entering into Roopam Jewellers located in Kankroli. They entered the shop and threatened the shopkeeper by brandishing country made pistols and fled with jewelry worth several lakhs. They used a white TVS Apache motor cycle to abscond, as was visible in the  CCTV footage.

SP Rajsamand Sudhir Joshi, along with Additional SP Shiv Lal Berwa immediately reached the scene along with their team and launched an investigation into the matter. A road barricading has been launched in the entire as area and all available CCTV footage were scanned after the incident.

Soon, other shopkeepers of the area also gathered on the scene and staged a protest there against police blaming them for lack of action.

SP Rajsamand Sudhir Joshi said "The incident occured at around 10.30 am on Wednesday, when three unidentified miscreants barged into the jewelry shop located at Jal Chakkithree in Kankroli. The first of trio entered the shop as a customer and asked the shopkeeper to show some jewelry items.  Soon after asking the shopkeeper, he called two of his aides inside the shop after which they pulled out country made pistols from their pockets and looted the gold and silver ornaments from the shop. The miscreants committed the crime within few minutes and left the shop on a motorcycle. The cost of looted jewelly is yet to be ascertained. The investigation of the matter is under way and the police is trying to identify the accused on the basis of the CCTV footages.The shopkeeper also told us that the three were talking to each other in Bihari".

SP said that the initial investigation suggests that the robbery was the work of  professionals and that it was a pre-planned activity. Police is investigating the matter from all angles and using technical support too.

A similar day light loot had taken place at Udaipur in August 2022, where a group of robbers looted 20 kg of Gold ornaments and Rs. 10 Lakh cash from one of the branches of Mannapuram Finance Limited in Udaipur. Two of the accused were arrested soon after, but neither could the gold or cash be recovered from them, and neither was the police able to get their hands on the kingpin of the Mannapuram Udaipur Loot.
