Gunman Kills 4, Including NYPD Officer, in New York's Manhattan
July 29, 2025 - In a disturbing incident on Monday (July 28) evening in New York’s Manhattan district, a lone gunman opened fire on people randomly killing at least four, including a NYPD officer, and critically wounding another. The suspect also died reportedly owing to self-inflicted injuries.
The incident, at around 6:30 pm, occurred in a corporate office building at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, a 634-foot skyscraper which has major corporate offices including that of NFL and Blackstone.
The NYC Mayor Eric Adams has asked residents to avoid the area as investigation is going on with heavily armed officers at the scene of crime. Ambulances, bomb squads and drone units were at the spot and several police helicopters were seen doing aerial surveillance.
The gunman, who was armed with a AR-15-style rifle, has been identified as Shane Devon Tamura, a resident of Las Vegas. His car was found in the area and it was search by the cops.
“Inside of that vehicle, officers found a rifle case with rounds, a loaded revolver, ammunition and magazines, a backpack, and medication prescribed to Mr. Tamura,” informed NYPD police commissioner Jessica Tisch said, adding there were no explosives.
The NYPD officer who was killed has been identified as Didarul Islam (36) who was on private security duty. The other dead include one man and two women.
