Maid absconds after looting house in Udaipur

Police have charged a domestic help with theft after she allegedly committed the crime along with her accomplices at a house in Udaipur.

As per the Udaipur Police, the home of Sanjay Gandhi at Modern Complex near Bhuwana in Udaipur, was looted overnight allegedly by the maid Karishma who worked full-time at the house. SP Udaipur Yogesh Goyal, in his statement to the press, said that the police were informed by the neighbours of the victim family after which the SP, Dy SP and Additional SP along with SHO of Sukher Police Station, Himanshu Singh Rajawat reached the location with their team.

On initial investigation, it was discovered that the maid of the house, who hails from Nepal, had served the family tea at around 9:30pm. The tea, allegedly, was laced with sedatives, since all the family members fell drowsy and went unconscious. As the family was feeling drowsy, the maid Karishma along with her accomplices tied up the members of the family, which included Sanjay Gandhi (47) , his wife Shilpa (45) and their two children Shaurya (21) and Neonika. They then ransacked the house and fled away with the valuables.

The extent of the theft has not yet been ascertained, as the family members are still not in a position to talk. The neighbours of Gandhi came to know of the incident after the daughter of Gandhi gained consciousness and crawled out of the house to alert the neighbours. As per Police (as the time of publishing this post) Gandhi and his wife are still in a semi conscious state, while the children are conscious. All four of them have been admitted to MB Hospital for treatment.

Police have launched an investigation and are looking for the maid who was recently hired by the household, after taking reference from friends, and her accomplices. CCTV footage around the area is also being scanned to get further information on the accused.
