Man held for posing as ' MLA' duping people on the pretext of facilitating government jobs

Udaipur, 7 Sept - A 31year old man has been arrested by the Bhoplapura police of Udaipur for posing as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and allegedly duping people of cash on the pretext of facilitating government jobs for them.
The accused, identified as Shiv Prakash alias Devendra Rana is a resident of Kuchpura, Fathepur Sikri near Agra. Shiv was arrested from Rajkot in Gujarat by a team of Bhupalpura police station of Udaipur and brought to Udaipur on Thursday, 7 September.
The police team from Udaipur began their investigation and search operations when Rajkumar Thamet, a resident of Neemuch Khera in Udaipur lodged an FIR at the Bhopalpura police station against the accused. The FIR alleged that the accused Shiv has duped him of Rs. 11 lakhs on the pretext of getting government job for both of his sons Avinash and Arman.
Station House Officer Bharat Yogi said that the victim in his report informed the police that he met Jagdish Chandra Achrya first, who offered him to get government sons for his sons through the key accused Devendra Rana. Jagdish told the victim that he has good relations with the officials of Public Work Department and can get jobs for his sons there in exchange of Rs. 11 lakh.
Later, he took the victim to Jaipur where he introduced him to the key accused and the master mind Devendra Rana by saying that he is a MLA at Shamli Uttar Pradesh. Jagdish also said that not only Rana is a MLA but his father is also a State Minister and holds a good reputation among the officials of various departments.
Jagdish and Rana took the money from Rajkumar and handed him offer letters for both of his sons. The offer letters were issued on the letter head of Chief Secretary, Central Government. When they went to went to the Public Works Department at Udaipur for joining, the officers there made them realize that the offer letter was fake. Upon discovering that they have been duped by the accused, the victim rushed to the Bhopalpura police station and lodged an FIR against Jagdish Chandra and Devendra Rana.
Police swung into action immediately after getting the report of the victim and launched a man hunt for Jagdish and Rana.
Additional SP City Anant Kumar constituted various teams of police to investigate the matter. On the other hand the accused was on large soon after the incident. During the investigations, the Station House Officer (SHO) Bharat Yogi got a tipoff that the master mind of the gang Devendra Rana is hiding somewhere in Rajkot, Gujarat. Acting upon the information of the sources, Yogi along with his team went to Rajkot where he raided the hide out of the accused Devendra Rana and nabbed him.
Rana has been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and was produced in court, which remanded him to 3 days Police Custody, said SHO Yogi.
Yogi said that police will now interrogate him further in connection with the case and also try to recover the cash from the accused. Jagdish, the person who facilitated the meeting of Rajkumar with Rana is still at large and the manhunt is on.
