A man from Rajasthan has been arrested by Mumbai police for hatching a plot and stealing jewellery worth rupees 2.23 crores. There were 3 others involved with him in the plot. The arrested man has been identified as Kevaram Devasi. He was arrested from Udaipur. His accomplice fled with gold ornaments (as was the plot) weighing 5. 6 kg after the jeweller asked him to deliver the ornaments in their office in Odisha.

As per police reports, the complainant R K Jain hired Ruparam Devasi and his brother Badaram. Ruparam works in Odisha office while Badaram works in Zaveri Bazar for the last 7 years in Jain’s office. On 21st June, Badaram was asked to deliver the gold ornaments in Odisha office but he went missing with the ornaments and did not show up at the office in Odisha. A complaint was lodged and a case was registered.

The investigating team found that Badaram had left his phone in the long-distance train and got off at Pune which was confirmed via CCTV footages. The 3 others involved in this case Kevaram, Harish and Lakhan met Badaram outside Pune railway station. Police got to know about various locations of Badaram and teams were on toes to keep an eye over his activities. While Badaram was meeting the other accused, the police teams got a clue of Kevaram’s location in Udaipur and he was arrested.

The 4 accused actually hail from Pali in Rajasthan and used to meet very often. The plot was hatched by Kevaram who has a history and was finally executed by Badaram. Police has not yet recovered any ornament from Kevaram and are trying to locate the others involved.
