Salumber: Police detain man on charges of assault on minor niece
Salumber Police have detained a man after allegatdions of sexual assault on his own 3yr old niece. The incident reportedly took place on 7 January at a village near the Parsad Police station in Salumber district near Udaipur. The police have registed the case under Section 376 IPC and 3,4,5D and 6 of POCSO Act.
The CRIME
The crime came to light when a woman, the mother of the victim came to the Parsad Police Station and registered her complaint. She complained that the accused came to her house at 2pm on 7 January and started watching TV. The woman said that she had to go to her farm for some work and left her 3yr old daughter with her brother-in-law. When she returned, she found that the room was dark; her daughter was alone and was screaming. She rushed towards her and the child was repeatedly placing her hands on her private parts. On observing closely, she noticed that the parts had turned red. Her brother-in-law was not at home then. She informed her husband and they then approched the police station.
The child's medical examination revealed that there was a sexual assault, but rape was not confirmed.
In view of the seriousness of the incident, the case is being investigated by the Deputy SP of Sarada, Rajendra Singh Jain under the directions of Additional SP Dinesh Aggarwal. After doing the initial investigation, Jain formed a team under Parsad SHO Mukesh Khatik and the accused was arrested in under 12 hours and detained for interrogation.
