Man dies while in Police custody at Gogunda Police Station, Udaipur
Police force deployed to ensure law and order.
A 25 year old man detained by the Police at Gogunda, Udaipur died under mysterious circumstances late evening on Thursday 25 May. A probe has been ordered in the matter by the SP Udaipur, Vikas Sharma.
The deceased has been, in the meanwhile shfited to a mortuary and heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
SP Udaipur, Vikas Sharma said that 25 year old Surendra Singh Devra, a native of Devro ki Kheri area under Gogunda police station circle was wanted in a case of kidnapping lodged against him by the relatives of a girl after he eloped with her.
As per information received from official sources, he was detained at the police station and before he could be interrogated, he suddenly fainted and collapsed. He was then rushed to the MB General Hospital at Udaipur, where doctors declared him dead as a result of cardiac arrest.
SP confirmed the incident and said that no marks of injuries have been found on the body of the deceased. The investigation of the matter has been handed over to Deputy SP Jhadol, Jitendra Singh. While the cause of death will be further ascertained after postmortem, further action will be taken after the investigation report is received, said the SP.
