Five police men suspended by SP after youth died in custody at Gogunda police station

As many as five police men including the station house officer of the Gogunda police station of Udaipur were suspended by SP after a 25 year old man died in police custody on Thursday evening.

SP Vikas Sharma said that more than 5 police officers were suspended while 4 others were removed from the police station and send to reserve police line following negligence. Along with that a letter has been written to the government following that demand of compensation and government job for the relatives of the victim. A part from that the matter has been taken into consideration and the investigation has been handed over to the Deputy Sp Jhadol Jitendra Singh, further action will be taken after getting the investigation report, Sp Sharma added.

The deceased Surendra Singh Devra a resident of Devro ko Kheri was detained by the police from Gujarat and brought to Gogunda police station as relatives of a girl lodged a case of kidnapping against him after he eloped with her.He was kept at the police station for questioning but suddenly he fainted and was rushed to the MB hospital where the doctors declared him dead saying that he passed away due to cardiac arrest, said Sp.

The dead body of the deceased man was shifted to the mortuary and a heavy police force has been deployed in the area on Thursday night. The relatives of the victim man staged a protest outside the Gogunda police station on Friday demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased.

On this occasion Yogendra Singh Katar the state president of Shree Rajput Karni Sena demanded that a case should be registered against the culprits under section 302 of Indian Penal Code, compensation of Rs. 50 lakhs should be given to the victim family and government job should be given to atleast one member of his family. He blamed that he along with other members of Kerni Sena were sitting outside the mortary no one even bothered to talk to them.
 

However District Collector Tarachand Meena and other administrative officers also reached at the village to take stock of the situation while Sp Vikas Sharma is interacting with the protestors and convensing them for conducting the postmortem of the dead body. After a long discussion with the people of the community and the relatives of the deceased the officials somehow managed to convince them for conducting the postmortem after assuring them for fulfilling their demands. Later the postmortem was conducted through the medical board and the body was handed over to the relatives.
