SIT formed to investigate Gogamedi's case; Police Idenfity Accused

Reward of Rs.5 Lac Announced on Accused

 

Udaipur, 6 Dec: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by DGP Umesh Mishra to investigate the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the President of the fringe right wing group Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena. The SIT was announced on Wednesday, 6 December and a rewards of Rs.5 Lacs was been announced reportedly on the capture of the accused. 

According to the reports the SIT will be headed by Additional DGP Dinesh MN. The team has already identified the accused as Rohit Rathore Makrana of Jaipur and Nitin Faujdar from Haryana who took help of one Naveen Shekhawat to enter Gogamedi's house on Tuesday, 5 December, before shooting him fatally.

While Naveen was killed in a cross fire between the accused and Gogamedi's guards, the other two named accused fled from the scene on a two wheeler allagedly snatched from a passerby..

According to media reports one of the two accused of Gogamedi's murder, Rohit Rathore, is said be earlier arrested at Udaipur along with five other people under a case of Arms Act. However no official has confirmed the information.

As per media reports, Gogamedi's family blamed the police, accusing them of not providing adequate security to Gogamedi, despite several requests by the deceased.

Most of the markets (shops, commercial establishments, offices, etc) across various districts of Rajasthan remained shut including Jaipur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh and Bundi.

Thousands of protestors took out rallies, blocked the roads, burnt tyres and vandalized several vehicles. 

The protestors gathered outside the Udaipur District Collectorate where they shouted slogans against the police department and also pelted stones on the police teams deployed there.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi a community leader was shot dead by two accused who came to his house and had a conversation with him before opening fire at him. They showered bullets at Gogamedi and later they fled the scene on a two wheeler which they snatched from one Hemraj, who was passing through the area at the time of the incident. While Gogamedi succumbed ot his injuries, his aide was critically injured and is being treated at a local hospital.
