Udaipur youth arrested for rape and death threat to a journalist
-Kapil Meena, the law student has been arrested by Udaipur police.
-He was annoyed with the journalist's tweets over the ongoing farmers' agitation.
A journalist from Delhi received rape and death threats from a youth in Udaipur. Police took quick action after the journalist tagged the Rajasthan Chief Minister and IG Police Udaipur range in the tweet.
A 26 year old law student from Udaipur was arrested by Udaipur police for criminal intimidation and intention to insult the modesty of a woman journalist from Delhi.
As informed by IG Udaipur, the youth threatened this journalist who had been tweeting regarding the farmers’ agitation. The female journalist Rohini Singh, tagging the Chief Minister and IG Police Udaipur, requested for quick action against the youth after which the police began a hunt to identify the youth Kapil Meena and arrested him. A case under IPC Section 67 IT ACT has been registered against the youth. An imprisonment of 3 years falls under IT Act and such offences are non bailable.
Upon interrogation the youth confessed that he had threatened the female journalist as he was angered by her style of reporting on the ongoing farmers’ agitation. The youth is a 2nd year law student and hails from Semari village.
The female journalist has expressed her gratitude towards Udaipur police for taking quick action on this matter.
