This year, Rajasthan University (RU) introduced new admission forms for undergraduate courses. They separated forms for regular subject courses and self-financed subject (SFS) courses. Regular courses are held in the morning, while SFS courses are in the evening.

Students Unaware of Separate Forms

Many students were not informed about the need to fill out two different forms. In previous years, only one form was used for both morning and evening courses. This led to confusion and over 3,000 seats remaining vacant.

Low Enrollment in SFS Courses

The university has 1,764 SFS seats, but only 369 were filled after the first merit list. Students said they were not aware they had to fill a separate form for SFS courses.

University Claims Information Was Clear

University officials stated that the changes were mentioned in the prospectus, on the university website, and in official releases. However, many students did not read these documents thoroughly.

Incomplete or Incorrect Forms

Ram Avatar Sharma, convenor of the Central Admissions Board, said many students filled out the forms incorrectly or incompletely, leading to incomplete admissions.

Changes in Subject Combinations

The National Education Policy introduced various subject combinations. Many students did not select the specified options, which also contributed to the confusion.

Missed Deadlines

Students submitted their documents for verification but missed the fee submission deadline, causing more incomplete admissions.

New Rules for Subject Selection

Previously, students could change their subject choices after admission. Now, they can only select from the options given in the admission form. This change aims to streamline the process but added to the confusion this year.
