JEE Mains 2024: Biometric and Frisking after Toilet Breaks

Enhanced security measures have been incorporated by the NTA in the upcoming JEE-Main examinations 2024. Candidates will face enhanced security measures, including frisking and biometric attendance, even after restroom breaks. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is implementing stricter rules for both candidates and officials.

There were 12.3 Lakh registrations for the JEE Mains on 8 December 2023, the last date of registrations. This is the first time that registrations for this examination has crossed the 10 lakh mark. This number is anticipated to increase further, as more candidates are expected to apply for the April 2024 exams.

"Continuous improvement is what we are looking at. Moreover with advance notification and registration we are having ample time to work upon security measures and preparedness as well. Apart from the biometric attendance and frisking at the entry, candidates will be frisked and biometric attendance will be taken again on entry from toilet breaks. Not just candidates, even officials, observers and other staff, including helps serving refreshments will undergo frisking and biometric attendance.” - Subodh Kumar Singh, Director General, NTA.

Another first for the JEE Mains 2024 is that two new examination centres at Bastar in Chhatisgarh and Tura in Meghalaya have been added.

NTA is checking private centers for complaints about readiness and security. Observers are getting technical training to spot issues and detect any unfair practices.
