CBSE Concludes Class 12th Exams
Results Expected in Mid-May
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully concluded the Class 12th exams, with over 15 lakh students appearing for the examinations. The board is anticipated to announce the results by mid-May.
This year's Class 12 exams were held not only across India but also in 26 countries worldwide. In the previous year's exams, approximately 16.9 lakh students registered, with 87.33% qualifying. However, there was a 5.38% decline compared to the previous year. Moreover, a significant number of students achieved high scores, with 1,12,838 scoring above 90%, and 22,622 scoring above 95%. Additionally, 1,25,705 candidates were placed in the compartment.
In an innovative move, the board is contemplating Open Book Examinations (OBE) for students from Classes 9 to 12. A pilot run of these open-book tests for English, mathematics, and science subjects in Classes 9 and 10, as well as for English, mathematics, and biology in Classes 11 and 12, is being proposed in select schools later this year. This initiative aims to assess the time taken by students to complete such tests and gauge stakeholders' responses.
