CBSE Clarifies: No 15% Syllabus Reduction for Board Exams 2025
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dismissed reports claiming a 15% syllabus reduction for the upcoming Class 10th and 12th board exams in 2025. The board issued an official clarification, labelling these reports as “fake news.”
CBSE Refutes Syllabus Reduction Claims
Recent news articles suggested a 15% syllabus reduction for Class 10th and 12th, creating confusion among students, parents, and teachers. CBSE clarified in an official notice that it has made no such policy change regarding syllabus reduction or examination format. “The Board has not made any changes to its examination or internal assessment systems. Any official information is issued only through the Board’s website and circulars,” CBSE stated.
New Board Exam Proposal Under Review
Aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Education Ministry has tasked CBSE with preparing a proposal for conducting two board exams per year. The National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) recommended holding a second Class 12 board exam in June, potentially starting in 2026. This change is still under consideration by the government.
Exam Dates and Schedule
CBSE confirmed that theory exams for Classes 10th and 12th in 2025 will begin on February 15, 2024. Practical exams, project submissions, and internal assessments are scheduled from January 1, 2025, for both domestic and international CBSE-affiliated schools. The full datesheet for theory exams is yet to be released.
For all updates, CBSE advised students and stakeholders to rely on the official CBSE website and circulars to avoid misinformation.
