CBSE will present Class 12 evaluation criteria in front of the Supreme Court on 17 June
CISCE is adopting average performance criteria in Classes 11 and 12 as well as student performance between 2015-2020. Results expected by 20 July
CBSE is likely to provide its reports on the Class 12 evaluation method before the Supreme Court on 17 June.
In the meanwhile, Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) is expected to release Class 12 results by 20 July. Its evaluation will be based on the students' internal grades for Classes 11 and 12, according to the statement. The Board will also look at the academic performance from 2015 to 2020.
CBSE and CISCE Class 12 Board exams had been cancelled vide a central government notification on June 1, following which the Supreme Court had given the CBSE, CISCE and the Centre two weeks to declare the criteria for evaluation of marks for Class 12.
The Supreme Court praised the decision, but had questioned the principles that would be adopted to develop the evaluation criteria for declaring the results. The Centre requested a two-week response time, while CISCE desired a four week period. The Supreme Court however was of the opinion that this delay would affect students who were planning to apply to foreign universities.
CBSE had formed a 13-member committee to prepare the report to be presented to the Supreme Court. It also released a new circular announcing the change of mode of school-based assessment and practical tests. The Board has requested the schools to complete the pending internals and practicals through online mode.
Meanwhile, students from Assam have filed a petition in the Court to order the state government and its examination board to cancel the Class 10 and 12 exams.
