Geospatial Skill Center Opens at MLSU Arts College
Udaipur, November 25,2024 - A Geospatial Skill Development Center and Entrepreneurship Cell has been set up at the Geography Department of MLSU Arts College in Udaipur. The center, which has cost around Rs 1.40 crore to establish, aims to provide specialized training in advanced geospatial technologies. A 21-day training camp will be inaugurated at the Golden Jubilee Guest House, MLSU, to further enhance the learning experience for students.
Training Programs Offered
The center will offer certificate programs, diplomas, and degree courses focused on drone-based LiDAR technology, GPS, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and web development. These programs are designed for students who have completed their 12th grade.
Advanced Facilities for Training
To support these courses, 30 computer systems with remote sensing and GIS software have been installed at the center. This infrastructure will help students gain hands-on experience with the latest technology in geospatial mapping and data analysis.
First Batch and Fee Structure
The center has begin operations on Monday, November 25, 2024. The first batch will consist of 30 students, selected by the state government, who will undergo a 3-month certificate program. The fee for this program will be Rs 10,000/-. Following the certificate course, diploma and M.Tech degree courses will be introduced.
About LiDAR Technology
Drone-based LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) surveying uses laser sensors to detect geographical features. It is a cutting-edge technology used for mapping and surveying the Earth's surface.
