In an inspiring story, Udaipur Rural MLA, Phool Singh Meena has gone back to studies after getting encouragement from his daughter. Having studied till Class 7, Phool Singh Meena resumed studies and is now taking his BA first year examinations.

Meena, 55, resumed his studies after 40 years. He was encouraged by his five daughters to take up studies again.

Meena had given up studies after his father, who was in army, died. He said that he had to give up his studies to take care of his family.

After becoming a councillor, his daughters urged that he resume studies given that he has to interact with so many people including senior officials and leaders. Hence, education is important but he was skeptical of his age.

Meena further said that he realised that all his speeched to students on different occaions about importance of education sounded hollow since he himself was not educated. So, his conscience started pinching him and he decided to resume studies.

Meena’s daughter, Deepika said that they are very proud of their father. He has already cleared his 10th and 12th grade examination and has started graduation studies.

Meena is being tutored by Sanjay Lunawat, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Manvakheda. Sanjay teaches him when he is travelling from one place to other and also sends him audio lesson on Whatsapp.

Lunawat applauded Meena for his dedication and humility. He said that Meena does not intend to stop at graduation but has a desire to do post graduation and Ph.D. after this.
