Lucknow's Divyanshi scores a 100 percentile in the CBSE 12th Board examinations 2020
Divyanshi Jain, a student of Navyug Radiance Senior Secondary school in Lucknow, scored a pathbreaking 100 percentile in the CBSE 12th board examinations, the results of which were announced earlier today.
Divyanshi is Humanities student and this score has created a new benchmark. She scored 100 out of 100 in English, Sanskrit, Geography, Insurance, Economics and History. She has not appeared for the Geography examinations due to the pandemic, the marks for which were calculated based on the CBSE aggregation method that was adapted as a shift from normal due to the COVID block.
Her studies and performance were tracked by her parents and teachers and she was a regular in revisions and mock tests apart from maintaining a modest daily schedule with full sleep.
Divyanshi intends to take up a course in History Hons with Delhi University as a career path.
How did CBSE chalk out the results inspite of pending examinations
The results declared by the CBSE showed a skewness towards the 90% plus score, with more students scoring in the 90% and 95% bracket than in the previous years. The number of students scoring 90% and above shifted from 7.82% in 2019 to 13.24% in 2020 and the number of students scoring 95% and above increased from 1.47% in 2019 to 3.24% in 2020, which is double.
When the pandemic locked out normal examination schedules, CBSE had decided to conduct examinations at a later date for 29 important papers for both classes 10 and 12. However, due to the continuing lockdown and health risks, these plans were dropped and a "Duckworth Lewis" kind of measure was adopted by the CBSE towards declaring the results.
The marks of papers that the students had not appeared in, were imputed using a formula. As per the formula, the average of the best three papers was taken for students who had appeared in four papers, best two for students who had written three papers and practical and project marks for students who had written less than two papers.
