MLSU and affiliated colleges adopt exam structure as per NEP 2020
Semester System and Internal Assessments as per NEP 2020...
All colleges affiliated with MLSU, including Arts, Commerce, and Science colleges, will now follow a semester system and internal assessment exams. The exams are out of 20 marks, and students need at least 8 marks to pass. These changes were introduced with the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) in 2020.
Starting from the academic session 2023-24, this system will be in place for regular students in about 1.95 lakh colleges connected with the university group. However, currently, it doesn't cover bachelor's and master's programs in Law, Pharmacy, Education, Engineering and Architecture.
In the first semester, all regular undergraduate students must take a mandatory Hindi exam, while English is required in the second semester. Guidelines have been provided to students for their studies and exam preparation based on these requirements.
In the assessment system, each program will have a 20-mark internal exam for all question papers. This covers Compulsory, Theoretical and Practical papers. There will be a 10-mark test paper, and the remaining 10 marks will be given based on the student's assignment, program evaluation, participation in seminars, Q&A sessions, and other relevant processes related to the specific question paper.
The 20 marks for internal assessment in practical question papers will depend on students practical records, analytical skills, and behavior in the laboratory. This system will now be followed in all university examination programs.
Dr. Rajesh Kumawat, the Exam Controller, clarified that the university won't release additional instructions for organizing internal assessment exams for all question papers. The examination department and colleges can independently arrange these exams at their levels, following the university's specified timeline or earlier. Professor Dr. Kunjan Acharya explained that students should enter their assessment marks on the university portal using their roll numbers.
